Self-Care Tips: Teens and Tobacco
Return to Self-Care Tips Index

To make an appointment or to talk with an advice nurse, call your local Kaiser Permanente facility.

Food for Thought

Why do you really smoke?

Are you smoking for yourself or someone else?
Smoking is probably not the only thing you can do with your friends. In fact, you can't smoke at all when you are at the movies, eating out or in the mall.
Ask friends who smoke to go to the movies or play a sport with you, so you can spend time together without feeling pressure to smoke or being exposed to second-hand smoke.

Save Money, Look Good
Feel Healthy, Live Longer

Make the choice for yourself and your health

Smoking cost a lot of money. If you smoke a pack a day, you will save about $75 a month and almost $1,000 a year when you quit. Think about what else you could do with that money.

Getting Help in the Kaiser Permanente System
Teens can make their own appointments and come in to see a doctor, nurse or counselor at Kaiser Permanente clinics. Some Kaiser Permanente facilities have a teen clinic with information and services expecially for teens. All facilities have doctors, nurses, health educators and mental health professionals who see teen patients.
